Job Summary: Join us as an IBM Hardware Engineer within the Banking domain. In this senior technical role, you will work on cutting‐edge IBM Power and Storage systems. You will be responsible for designing and implementing the IBM i PowerHA and LPM migration toolkit, as well as ensuring smooth migration and configuration processes for mainframe hardware. This role is integral to building and configuring new z16 machines and supporting the migration from z14 to z16 models. You will work closely with extended teams and business/technical stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions in a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- IBM Power & Storage Systems: Design, develop, and implement IBM i PowerHA and LPM migration toolkit solutions. Build and configure new z16 machines with assisted documentation. Assist in migration activities from z14 to z16 models.
- Mainframe Hardware Management: Manage and configure mainframe hardware models using HCD, IODF, and HMC. Oversee racking, stacking, channel configuration, and powering-up of equipment in the Data Center.
- Troubleshooting & Collaboration: Troubleshoot hardware issues and work closely with extended teams to resolve challenges. Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to ensure solutions fit organisational requirements.
- Documentation & Standards: Produce detailed documentation for new builds, migration activities, and hardware configuration. Ensure adherence to internal standards for system configuration, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Eligibility & Required Experience
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience with IBM Power and Storage systems and mainframe hardware. Hands-on experience in building and configuring new z16 machines. Demonstrated involvement in z14 to z16 migration activities. Strong knowledge of mainframe hardware management tools and interfaces (HCD, IODF, HMC). Experience overseeing the physical setup (racking, stacking, channel configuration, power-up) of data center equipment.
- Additional Skills: Excellent troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a focused team. Experience in creating and managing detailed technical documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation—from technical SMEs to senior management.
