We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead the electrical delivery of major construction projects. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of electrical systems, from design through to commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring electrical works are completed to the highest standards, within schedule, and budget. This is a leadership position requiring strong technical expertise, proactive coordination, and the ability to manage multiple project stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the electrical scope of works from design stage through installation, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
- Coordinate and supervise electrical contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure compliance with technical specifications and project timelines.
- Develop and maintain project schedules for electrical works, ensuring alignment with overall construction milestones.
- Ensure all electrical installations adhere to relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Review and approve electrical drawings, specifications, and technical submittals in coordination with the design and engineering teams.
- Implement robust quality control procedures and promote a culture of safety and compliance on-site.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor progress, resolving any technical or logistical issues as they arise.
- Manage procurement of electrical equipment and materials, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Liaise closely with clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Drive the commissioning process, verifying system performance and functionality prior to project completion.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
- Demonstrated experience delivering electrical systems on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical system design, installation standards, and commissioning practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of managing contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with national and international electrical regulations, codes, and health & safety standards.
- Proven experience managing project schedules, budgets, and procurement processes related to electrical works.
- Proficient in project management tools and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Chartered Engineer status or in progress would be an advantage.
- Experience in mission-critical or high-tech environments (e.g., data centres, pharma, or healthcare) is desirable.
- Understanding of energy efficiency, smart systems, and sustainability in electrical design is beneficial.
