This role sits within the CUO Office for Insurance which has a broad remit, focused on supporting both the Group Chief Underwriting Officer and the UK Chief Underwriting Officer. The CUO Office ensures the smooth operation of the overall underwriting function and assists in the implementation and execution of Convex’s underwriting-related strategies. This role gives you the canvas to make an impact within the Insurance Underwriting function and gain significant insight into underwriting operation in Convex. This is a visible role reporting into the Head of Underwriting Management, allowing you plenty of opportunities for personal growth and development through increased exposure and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Underwriting Management with a range of underwriting governance focused tasks and initiatives either from a Group, Entity or Lloyd’s Syndicate perspective.
- Provide support in the development, execution and monitoring of underwriting related policies, processes, and strategies.
- Use good judgment and discretion in providing administrative support and troubleshooting issues identified.
- Engagement with Heads of Business Groups, Lines of Business Heads and Underwriters to facilitate completion of tasks and ensuring key information is shared and disseminated.
- Act as liaison between the CUO Office and other functions within Convex.
- Represent CUO Office/Insurance Underwriting in Convex projects, working with relevant groups and committees as required.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Deep understanding of the mechanisms of the insurance industry, with prior experience in either underwriting, underwriting governance or in a role which has required direct engagement with an underwriting function such as internal audit or another controls focused role within insurance.
- Experienced in documenting processes and procedures as well as making improvement recommendations.
- Capable of interpreting basic management information related to underwriting performance.
- Detail orientated with an analytical mind.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Approachable personality with well-rounded communication skills.
- Keen on problem solving using your “can-do” attitude.
- A team player, with the ability to work independently as required.
- Good organisation and prioritisation skills.
