The service you will work in:

Hestia\’s Housing Management team look after Service users within Hestia\’s accommodation based services. Each Housing Officer manages a patch of 50-100 units, and manages rent, arrears, repairs and accommodation checks.

A day in this role looks like:

As a Senior Housing Services Manager at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Housing Services Department. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Support the housing department in county court possession and small claims actions, including preparing and submitting county court witness statements and other necessary court administration.
  • Undertake necessary legal actions such as leading on pre-action protocols and managing service users\’ agreement breaches.
  • Communicate with project-based staff regarding housing benefits, Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), tenancy breaches, and service user payment discrepancies.
  • Work with the Rents team to ensure that new service users have their rent accounts established and are managed effectively.
  • Assist the Head of Housing Services in reviewing service charges for new projects and annually as part of the rent increase processes and liaise with RP partners and Local authority HB departments to ensure these are approved.
  • Creation of No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) invoices for the NRPF Team.
  • Working with the internal teams on procurement (identify needs, evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, price, reliability).
  • Review and manage rent data systems to ensure accurate collection and allocation of rent/charges.
  • Assist the Head of Housing Services in the creation of former tenant arrears reports for director meetings.
  • Work with local authorities to ensure all Housing Benefit payments are received and to submit any appeals or complaints as needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and tenancy sustainment.
  • Line manage Housing Officers, ensuring they are trained, supported, and developed in their roles.
  • Assist the Head of Housing Services in the development and implementation of housing management policies and procedures that support service delivery and minimise arrears.

  • Extensive experience in housing management, including rent collection, arrears recovery, and tenancy sustainment.
  • Proven ability to manage and support a team, including recruitment, supervision, and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation, welfare benefits, and best practices related to tenancy management.
  • Experience in preparing and managing county court cases and other legal processes related to housing management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and prepare detailed reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and procedures in a housing context.
  • Experience working with vulnerable client groups in supported housing environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of Universal Credit (UC), Housing Benefit (HB) processes, and county court procedures.
