The role is to contribute to the development of new and existing physical consumer products. These products are technology focused, home products that monitor the wellbeing of companion animals in unobtrusive ways, helping pet owners better understand the wellbeing of their pets. Working within a team of Product Designers and Engineers of various disciplines, the test technician will have a major role in developing tests in our workshop and lab, designing and manufacturing test jigs, assembling prototypes, and reporting results.
The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for mechanical design using Solidworks, and the ability to independently design, make, measure and validate against a high-level requirement. This role offers the opportunity to learn how to use and maintain a broad range of modelmaking equipment, the latest measurement and mechanical test equipment to deliver an efficient resource for product development.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting hands-on physical building, testing, measurement and fault finding at jig, product, sub-assembly and component level to assess reliability, function and performance.
- Identifying possible solutions and innovations to test and design problems.
- Planning and sequencing your workload to meet project demands.
- Document and communicate test findings in formal test reports and presentations.
- Ensuring safe working practices in the lab, workshop and store.
Requirements:
- You must currently be at university and will be looking to complete a 12-month student internship as part of your undergraduate degree.
- Must be currently studying an Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar, or a degree in Product Design.
