The Client Loom Talent Limited have been retained by a leading in-house FMCG / Food based company on a Head of Warehousing vacancy for their NDC operation in Norwich (NR1). Our client has a primary focus on delivering unrivalled levels of service and innovative product solutions across 15,000 SKU's, meaning the NDC works at pace, to tight deadlines within a very efficient operation. The group boasts an already impressive UK customer portfolio within the FMCG / Food space, including a small amount of temperature controlled goods.

The Role

The Head of Warehousing vacancy in Norwich will play a critical role in leading not only the NDC but also 2 smaller RDC's based in the Midlands area. This position is a truly exciting opportunity for an experienced logistics professional to be at the forefront of a rapidly expanding organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting Line: The Head of Warehousing will report to the UK & European Logistics Director.
  • Operational Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for all operational activities, including warehousing, distribution, strategy, continuous improvement and projects.
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing, collective site operational team (up to 100+ employees) through managerial & operational leads as direct reports.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain an already impressive, strong customer relationship base, ensuring ongoing satisfaction.
  • Commercial Responsibility & Budget Management: Develop and manage the operational site budget, ensuring financial objectives are achieved while maintaining service & quality.
  • Performance Metrics: Continue to evolve the organisational approach to KPI's, whilst ensuring existing and new site standardisation.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practice.
  • Process Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Innovation: Support the business appetite to drive innovation, along with the adoption of new technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Supplier Relationships: Manage UK commercial relationships with customers, suppliers and third-party service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective services.

The Candidate

The successful candidate for the Head of Warehousing role will have the following skills & experiences:

  • A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain Background - Essential.
  • 5+ Years proven Operations / Site / General Management leadership experience across Warehouse operations - Essential.
  • Previous budgetary responsibility across medium sized DC operations in excess of + 15m - Essential.
  • A sector background within; FMCG, Food, Retail, E-Commerce - Advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams - Essential.
  • Prior commercial knowledge of the UK logistics and warehousing market - Essential.
  • An individual truly excited by large scale growth challenges - Essential.
  • Commutable to the Norwich area 3-4 days per week - Essential.
  • Commutable to the Midlands RDC's for c. 1 day per week on average - Essential.

Salary & Benefits Package

  • Salary - 55,000 to 60,000.
