We are looking for an experienced individual to join Talbots as a Senior Associate Lawyer within the Court of Protection Department. As a Senior Associate Lawyer, you will be expected to provide excellent client service whilst undertaking a full range of Court of Protection work and assisting with the training and development of the Court of Protection team.

Managing and assisting on a varied caseload, advising clients on a full range of associated matters in the Court of Protection such as applications for the appointment of Deputies for Property & Financial Affairs, for Health & Welfare Deputies, for replacement Trustees, for Deputies and Attorneys for Gifting and for Statutory Wills. Liaising with IFAs in relation to the investment of Deputy Client funds and claiming Benefits from the DWP and local authority, as well as other day-to-day deputy file management. Advising clients in connection with contested Court of Protection matters including claims under the Deprivation of Liberty and advising Attorneys and Lay Deputies in connection with investigations by the Office of the Public Guardian.
Update relevant software such as SOS and maintain compliance requirements in line with SRA, Lexcel, Law Society Quality scheme Standards, SARs and accounting requirements.
At least 3 years’ experience of working as a Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with experience of working in a similar role within a Court of Protection Department. Expert knowledge of Court of Protection including applications, advising clients, Deputies and Attorneys on investigations by the Office of the Public Guardian. Working competency of a range of issues in the Court of Protection and Office of the Public Guardian. To be passionate about giving outstanding client care to both clients and referrals and have excellent administrative, planning, and organisational skills. Working knowledge on how to use case management systems and Microsoft Office applications, and capable of working and supporting a team.
