We are seeking a proactive and experienced Supply Chain Team Leader to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Procurement team, while also supporting broader Supply Chain activities including Planning and Stores. This is a hands-on position, combining leadership with operational responsibility, including the direct management of key supplier accounts. The successful candidate will actively support procurement tasks during peak periods and play a key role in ensuring supplier performance and schedule adherence.
The Role:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the procurement team to ensure timely and efficient supply of materials and services.
- Maintain oversight of the orderbook, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of suppliers, handling the end-to-end procurement process and nurturing supplier relationships.
- Monitor procurement KPIs, address performance issues, and implement corrective measures where necessary.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for procurement-related issues, ensuring swift resolution.
- Participate in production meetings to provide supply chain updates and align procurement with manufacturing plans.
- Promote best practices in procurement operations and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to the procurement team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and drive supply chain improvements.
- Support the Supply Chain Manager with operational reporting and contribute to strategic initiatives.
- Assist with administrative and procurement tasks as needed during periods of high workload.
What are we looking for in our next Supply Chain Team Lead?
- CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles, ideally with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of procurement operations, supplier performance management, and orderbook control.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
