Our feasibility studies enable an informed decision-making process, based on a comparative review of the various roadmaps available, with full cost-benefit analysis to highlight the best balance between business resilience and the reduction of carbon.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking to hire an Energy & Carbon Consultant in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven engineer to join a dynamic, highly successful team, with focus on engineering solutions, audits of sites, and decarbonisation of buildings through the implementation of an appropriate blend of renewable and low-carbon solutions. The role will require you to identify, manage and deliver technical energy and process efficiency projects in a variety of sectors. Projects will focus on the delivery of utility and carbon savings through the identification of wastage and opportunities for reduction. Our bespoke online energy and waste and analytics tool set, InMetriks, will be available for you to support your clients to become more efficient, and ultimately reduce the impact they are having on the world around us.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Manage projects individually and/or collaboratively to ensure delivery to clients in a timely manner, within the agreed budget, and to the expected quality
- Conduct audits at clients’ sites, considering H&S compliance, and communicate findings in a suitable format. Sites will include retail, offices, catering and manufacturing archetypes
- Work closely with site contacts to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Support Senior and Principal Consultants with product development
- Support the clients you are allocated via ongoing reporting, phone contact, email, and meetings, either virtually or face-to-face. Thus, ensuring satisfaction whilst acting as trusted advisor, and delivering the contracted service
- Work with other staff, internal and external, collaborating to ensure the progress of projects and timely delivery of agreed outputs
- Provide technical support/oversight to a range of projects across the areas such as, but not limited to: SECR, ESOS, Action Plans, CCA, Net Zero Roadmaps, HDP, Scope 3, EII, energy management, and energy audits to BS EN 16247)
- Support the business development team to identify new opportunities and support existing clients from ongoing work
- Improve the knowledge and understanding of the wider team by providing training on relevant subject matter, drawing on personal knowledge and experience where possible
- Support the collation of management information through the completion of timesheets, deliverable trackers, etc.
Your knowledge, skills and qualifications
Essential
- A proven record of delivering sustainability, process improvement, or cost efficiency projects to internal and/or external customers
- Experience in energy and water management, at smaller manufacturing and retail/commercial sites, from identification of utility savings to delivery of successful reduction programmes
- A proven ability to articulate technical information to non-technical clients
- Engineering or relevant technical degree essential, such as Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, and the applicant should be working towards chartership or already chartered
- Good analytical and numerical skills with experience of analysing and interpreting large amounts of complex data, and communicating findings in report format
- Good project management skills ensuring high quality service delivery
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, visual, and written, with the ability to convey complex problems, improving understanding, to a variety of stakeholders from all levels of business, in an engaging manner
- The ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Working knowledge of how energy works in buildings and processes from a technical design or engineering perspective.
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Proficient user of the MS Office suite of products.
Desirable
- At least 3 years work experience, in a sustainability type role, in a suitable sector
- Experience working in a business-to-business consultancy, where you have performed the role of ‘trusted advisor’, providing support, advice, and delivery to a very high standard
- Programming and configuring BMS to provide optimal control
- The application of Lean Six Sigma.
