We have an exciting new job opportunity for an Usher to join our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), an agency of the Ministry of Justice, working for Willesden Magistrates Court. This is a full-time temporary role for an ongoing 6 months with a view to extending the contract further.

Salary: £14.75 per hour (with benefits of pension scheme and holiday).

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9-5. Some flexibility required.

The List Caller is responsible for overseeing the list of cases being heard in court each day. They check in court users and guide them to the courtroom or waiting area. List callers maintain a record of cases scheduled for hearing and ensure everyone involved in a case attends court and knows what to do. This role will be a mixture of court ushering and supporting court users entering hearings.

  • Prepare and manage daily court lists, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Call parties into courtrooms in accordance with the judge's direction and the running order.
  • Maintain communication between the court and waiting parties regarding estimated call times.
  • Coordinate with legal representatives, interpreters, and support services to ensure smooth transitions between cases.
  • Assist with courtroom setup and ensure necessary documentation is in place before proceedings begin.

To carry out duties at Willesden Magistrates Court (and also going on a rota basis to work at Uxbridge & Ealing Magistrates Courts when required) to carry out duties such as post opening, case entry, answering telephone and counter queries.

A DBS check will be needed before you can start this role; we will process this for you. If you are successful, you will be subject to security checks which take approximately 2-3 weeks to process.
