Oligonucleotide Development Chemistry Team Leader
We are seeking an Oligonucleotide Development Chemistry Team leader with expertise to join us to manage a group of Scientists. As a Leader within our Enzyme and Oligonucleotide Development group, you will play a critical role in driving projects that contribute to groundbreaking advancements in healthcare and biotechnological solutions.
You will be part of a team working within the Medicine, Development & Supply department, where we are dedicated to advancing research and development in the fields of biocatalysis and oligonucleotide chemistry.
We are looking for this role to be based at a state-of-the-art facility in Stevenage, UK.
In this role you will…
- Lead and manage a team of scientists specializing in oligonucleotide development.
- Oversee the design, synthesis, and optimization of oligonucleotides, ensuring high-quality and efficient project execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align objectives and resources, fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.
- Mentor and motivate team members, encouraging professional growth and maintaining a strong focus on achieving departmental goals.
- Utilize your expertise in solid phase organic synthesis to develop novel strategies and improve existing methodologies in oligonucleotide manufacturing.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and scientific advancements in the field to integrate knowledge into ongoing and future projects.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- PhD in Chemistry, or equivalent experience in an industry related field
- Proven experience in oligonucleotide development with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Previous experience of supervising/managing & developing a team of Scientists
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Preferable experience in solid phase organic synthesis.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team.
