Our Team manages the IBM Mainframe and Mid-Range estate for the bank, which includes the performance of the hardware, upkeep of Operating Systems, and maintenance of 3rd Party software. This management also encompasses CICS & MQ for connectivity and transactional processing for the related Applications, Treasury, Asset Management, and our Batch.
We are on the hunt for a Senior Mid-Range Engineer to join our Technology Operations Core team. If you like a fast-paced role that will challenge you, then please read on!
What you’ll be doing:
- Plan and execute technical and procedural improvements to our iSeries/pSeries systems.
- Provide 1st Line support, offering support, guidance, and technical escalation point to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Take ownership of technical issues, ensuring the correct parties are involved to formulate and deliver a resolution.
- Manage your own workload to meet the changing requirements of both production support and project delivery.
- Provision of 24x7 on-call support for live service as well as project implementation.
- Maintain documentation in terms of process and look for ways to improve/automate current processes.
We need you to have:
- The deep expertise and enduring curiosity in the operation of iSeries/pSeries and AS400 technology.
- A desire to explore and implement new technologies that transform our ways of working.
- Communication and influencing skills to effectively communicate complex requirements to colleagues with varying levels of technical knowledge and ensure requirements are delivered.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
It’s a bonus if you have but not essential:
- A good working knowledge of Asset Finance, Invoice Finance, General Ledger processes and experience of working in a Financial Services Environment.
- Recent experience of core modernisation and managing digital demands.
- Disaster Recovery Experience.
