Spencer Ogden is proudly collaborating with a leading renewable energy developer specializing in onshore wind , solar , and battery energy storage systems (BESS) . Committed to sustainability, optimizing project performance, and delivering environmentally and economically beneficial energy solutions through close collaboration with local communities, our client is seeking an experienced Head of Origination to join their growing business.

As the Head of Origination , you will lead land acquisition and origination strategies for onshore wind, solar, and BESS projects across the UK. This senior role is critical in driving project pipeline growth and ensuring successful land agreements. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify, secure, and manage high-potential sites, contributing to the company’s mission of accelerating the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification and acquisition of prime sites for onshore wind, solar, and BESS projects in the UK.
  • Develop and implement origination strategies, ensuring alignment with the company's project development goals.
  • Negotiate and secure land agreements, including leases and rights of way, with landowners and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, communities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of land originators, driving performance and career development.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless progression from site origination to project delivery.
  • Stay informed of policy, regulatory, and market changes affecting land origination and renewable energy projects.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in land origination for onshore wind (Scotland and England) and solar projects (UK-wide).
  • Strong understanding of land agreements, planning, and environmental considerations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Chartered Land Surveyor (MRICS or RICS) qualification – ideal but not mandatory.
  • Proven track record of successfully originating renewable energy projects.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Scotland, England, and the broader UK
