An experienced Health & Safety Officer is needed to join a highly regarded and one of the busiest Structural Steel Specialists contractors in the London Market. Typical project values are £500k to £3m for prestigious clients across the UK on various construction projects. Ideally, the successful candidate will have exposure to structural steel packages, but we are open to the candidate background if they have experience with a recognised contractor.

Health & Safety Officer Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all workplaces are safe and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Maintain, update, and communicate robust SHEQ policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Guarantee adherence to all statutory H&S obligations, including reporting and training.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement necessary control measures.
  • Document and investigate accidents/incidents thoroughly, driving corrective actions.
  • Establish and manage a program of safety inspections, checks, and audits (including fire safety).
  • Oversee H&S records, deliver toolbox talks, and foster a strong safety awareness culture.

Health & Safety Officer Requirements:

  • Construction H&S Officer track record.
  • UK H&S legislation expertise.
  • Familiarity with structural steel erection and fabrication safety considerations is a plus, but not mandatory for the right candidate.
  • Relevant H&S qualifications (NEBOSH) are highly desirable.
  • Proactive, excellent communicator, organized and detail-oriented.
