We are looking for a Civil Design Engineer with strong water industry experience to join a busy and growing team.

Role Overview:

  • Location: Manchester – Office-based (5 days a week, with hybrid working after 3 months)
  • Contract: 6+ Months
  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35
  • Rate: Open
  • Sector: Water

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality civil design solutions across the water sector
  • Identify efficient design options through scope reviews and site visits
  • Lead and mentor CAD technicians, junior designers and graduates
  • Prepare design risk assessments, specifications and reports
  • Ensure designs align with technical standards and client requirements
  • Manage design changes and document accordingly
  • Estimate design hours and support project planning
  • Present designs at technical meetings (ALMs, KMs etc.)

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 10 years’ civil design experience within the water industry
  • Strong knowledge of both clean and wastewater systems
  • Graduate, HND or equivalent experience
  • Chartered status is desirable
  • Good understanding of construction methods and materials
  • Proficient in engineering drawing practices and design software
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership skills
  • Strong problem solver with a hands-on, proactive approach
