Why We Need You!

Site Reliability Engineering is the engine that drives delivery and management of Ivanti’s SaaS product offerings. We are responsible for the reliability, deployment, and operation of the Ivanti Cloud product portfolio. We are seeking individuals eager to drive SRE maturity through the research and development of internal tooling, operational enhancements, and deployment pipelines. Ivanti SRE takes a holistic view of operational procedures, incident response procedures, application and infrastructure monitoring, and process automation. Ivanti SRE is a blend of infrastructure, networking, automation, development, and application administration. This is a hands-on technical position. The ideal candidate will have a software engineering background and strong experience with continuous deployment, SaaS delivery, and production incident response. This role requires that applicants reside in Scotland and be authorized to work in the United Kingdom.

This team is instrumental in developing Ivanti's purpose-built platform for CIOs and CISOs powered by Ivanti Neurons - a cloud-scale, hyperautomation layer that enables proactive healing, user-friendly security across the organization and provides an enhanced user experience. This department plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's growth trajectory through continuous innovation and customer-centric solutions.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Researching, maintaining, and contributing to automation of SRE tools and processes
  • Contributing to solutions toward reducing toil within SRE
  • Participating in code review and analysis with SRE peers
  • Composing and reviewing contributions to SRE documentation such as system documentation, technical guides, and runbooks
  • Deploying, managing, and securing Ivanti’s production Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments in AWS and Azure
  • Working with geographically dispersed, cross-departmental teams to solve difficult problems
  • Participate in on-call rotations for 24x7 coverage (follow-the-sun model) for incident response, issue triage, and problem resolution

To Be Successful in The Role, You Will Have

  • A BSc in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience (2+ with an achieved BSc in Computer Science or Equivalent Degree)
  • Proficiency with Python and experience with one of the following languages: Java, Golang, C#
  • Proficiency working with Bash interactively and programmatically
  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure preferred)
  • Experience working with core Linux distributions (Debian, RHEL, SUSE, Slackware)
  • Familiarity with container orchestration technologies (EKS or AKS preferred)
  • Experience with deployment pipeline tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and/or GitHub Actions
  • Proficiency working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • A desire to adopt and implement emergent technologies and best practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for the purposes of global collaboration

‘Nice-to-haves’ include:

  • Prior experience as a Site Reliability Engineer
  • Certificates in one or more of the following categories, or demonstrated certificate-equivalent knowledge: Cloud Development and architecture, Kubernetes Administration, Linux Administration, Software engineering disciplines
  • Proficiency developing for serverless frameworks such as Azure Functions or AWS Lambda
  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 Type 2, ISO-27001, FedRAMP, or IRAP and privacy regulations such as GDPR and PIPEDA

Roadmap for Success

  • 90 Days: Onboarding and role-training is complete. You're building foundational knowledge of the SRE-run product portfolio. You hold general knowledge of how and where Ivanti SRE implements automation. You've gotten to know the team and are building relationships with SRE peer teams.
  • 6 Months: Self-sufficiency in core job functions and existing processes. Participating in Incident Response rotations. Identifying repetitive tasks and proposing automation opportunities in collaboration with senior SRE peers through collaboration with SRE peers and direct interaction with activities considered ‘toil’. Active participation in the SRE SDLC process for small-to-medium automation tasks or fixes.
  • 1 Year: Contribute independently to SRE codebases and documentation. Demonstrate ownership in incident management including triage and resolution. Lead one or more well-defined project under guidance from Senior SRE members. Identify areas where performance and reliability can be improved in production systems.
