Greenwich Music School is a charity dedicated to high-quality, accessible music education. We run one-to-one lessons, group courses and creative projects across South East London, and online—with a teaching team of over 40 tutors and 650+ students. Our mission is to inspire creativity, artistic growth and personal development through music.

We’re looking for a calm, organised and proactive person to join our small, dynamic team as Operations and Student Experience Lead. This is the key support role in our organisation. You’ll lead on student enquiries, lesson scheduling, systems coordination and concert support. You’ll help create a smooth and positive journey for students and families, while shaping the processes that help us grow sustainably and stay true to our values.

You’ll be the only dedicated operations and student services team member, working closely with the co-founders (the CEO and Principal). There’s no wider admin team—so this is a role with real responsibility, variety, and scope to shape how things work. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload, and making decisions, while staying closely aligned with our values and priorities.

We’re in a phase of growth and transition—improving our systems, introducing new tools, and setting up structures for the long term. Some things are still evolving, so we’re looking for someone who’s happy working with a bit of mess, figuring things out, and building things from scratch when needed. We admire the “manager of one” mindset (as coined by 37signals)—someone who takes initiative, communicates clearly, and owns their work from start to finish.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • A confident generalist who enjoys making things work well
  • Thoughtful about what’s worth spending time on, and what can be templated or automated
  • Calm, professional and warm in communication—especially over email
  • Motivated by impact and aligned with our values: creativity, positivity, quality and respect
  • Comfortable with evolving systems, new tools (like AI, ticketing, or CRM), and occasional complexity
  • Happy to work independently, with good judgement and a practical mindset
  • Available on Mondays, to follow up on weekend enquiries

What the role involves:

  • Being the first point of contact for new and enrolled student and parent enquiries
  • Scheduling termly lessons and managing day-to-day timetable changes
  • Coordinating communications and information across teachers, venues and families
  • Supporting processes for enrolment, cancellations, SEND and bursary students
  • Developing templates and improving workflows for efficiency
  • Supporting events and concerts, including on-site assistance if local
  • Acting as safeguarding contact and first aider (training provided)
  • Helping adopt and make effective use of new systems and tools

What we’re offering:

  • A meaningful role in a small, friendly, values-led organisation
  • Remote or hybrid working, with flexible hours
  • Full training in systems, safeguarding and first aid
  • A chance to make a real difference to how music education is experienced by children, young people and adults across our community

In your cover letter, please let us know:

  • Whether you’re applying for full-time, part-time (and how many hours), or as part of a potential job share
  • Whether you would prefer to work fully remotely or in a hybrid setup (up to 50% on-site in Greenwich)

We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis and may close early if the role is filled. If you have any questions before applying, feel free to get in touch.
