The position involves joining the world’s largest independent renewable energy company active in wind, solar and energy storage. Our vision is to be a leader in the transition where everyone has access to affordable zero-carbon energy. Being part of the RES team means shaping the world’s energy future. The Asset Management Department is responsible for a growing fleet of renewable energy assets. The RES Advisory Services Team is part of our Global Asset Management Team, providing consultancy services across all renewable technologies to meet our clients' requirements.

We are looking for an experienced renewables consultant to build and manage this team. The Advisory Services Manager will be responsible for developing the Advisory Services team and leading on all client-facing Advisory Services activities across our global AM portfolio, currently focused on Northern Europe, with plans to expand into other regions.

The focus of the Advisory team is to deliver Advisory Services to existing AM clients and as an enabler for new clients requiring full AM support in the future. The team may also introduce Advisory clients to other RES departments such as Development, Construction and O&M. This role will report to the Director of Operations Support and Advisory Services and will work closely with Asset Managers, Business Development Managers, Operations Support Team, AM Finance Team and other departments within RES.

Key Accountabilities
  • Undertake technical, project management, commercial and customer-facing activities.
  • Promote Advisory Services to clients and ensure RES maximises potential revenues from these workstreams, focusing on key accounts.
  • Increase and manage RES’ exposure to target markets through client engagement, conference sessions and roundtable events.
  • Manage regular communication with target clients and provide feedback to business units to refine product offerings.
  • Understand and interpret client needs, clearly communicating client goals to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of Advisory Services and one-off projects on behalf of clients including due diligence, owners engineering and general technical advisory.
  • Manage P&L within the Advisory Services Team.
  • Ensure all Advisory Services activity is linked back to client-specific Value Enhancement Plans, demonstrating the value of RES as AM.
  • Support growth and cost reduction targets.
Reporting
  • Act as first point of contact within the Global Asset Management Team for all Advisory Service related issues.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
Internal Engagement
  • Coordinate resources within the Advisory Services Team and ensure appropriate contracts are agreed with clients, accounting for time and cost.
  • Ensure quality of work meets clients' expectations and complies with RES’ Group Engineering and Technical quality procedures.
  • Work with all internal stakeholders and any sub-contractors to ensure project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budget.
  • Liaise with other departments within RES to seek specialist support or deal with resourcing constraints, avoiding conflicts including shared clients, Intellectual Property, and supporting competitors.
  • Agree and maintain a skills and approval matrix with relevant internal departments.
  • Support the development of proposals to secure new work.
  • Take responsibility for the financial performance of any projects managed.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members.
  • Identify and communicate relevant technological developments or regulatory changes that may impact the business or provide new opportunities.
External Engagement
  • Work with clients to identify their requirements and key points of contact.
  • Develop and submit proposals to clients complying with RES Stage Gate Process.
  • Attend client meetings and undertake site visits within the UK and globally.
  • Attend conferences to promote RES Advisory services and the wider Asset Management Team.
What you will needKnowledge
  • Understanding of technical aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects.

  • Established network of contacts within the renewables industry.
  • Understanding of commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects (including project finance).

  • Significant experience in the renewables industry in a technical consulting capacity.
  • Experience managing a small team of remote consultants.
  • Managing budgets and project costs.
  • Contract specification review and preparation.
  • Client-facing and business development experience in a consultancy role.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office365 products.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or relevant Business/Commercial discipline.
  • Valid driving licence for use within the UK.
