The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

The Environmental and Waste Advisor is responsible for monitoring, and reporting on compliance with our Corporate and Divisional ISO 14001 management systems, waste obligations, contract requirements, and legislative obligations. This includes auditing and updating the environmental, waste management, management systems.

The role will support the Group SHEQ Compliance and Integration Manager to fulfil his role as the Technically Competent Manager (TCM) for Waste within Power Private, and deputies for him in his absence. The role will also provide guidance and support for the wider SHEQ Team across the business and provide guidance and support to the Operations Team as required.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Monitor, review, and audit compliance with Corporate and Divisional ISO 14001 management systems and contract requirements.
  • Monitor, review, and audit compliance with legislative obligations across the business.
  • Review and update environmental and waste management systems and controls.
  • As the holder of a WAMITAB Level 4 Medium Risk Operators Certificate, review compliance with legislative obligations within Power Private as the TCM for Waste in relation to the nominated Waste Permit Holder.
  • Work closely with and support the Group SHEQ Compliance and Integration Manager and develop and maintain a suitable and effective internal audit plan.
  • Provide guidance and support as required to the Head of ESG.
  • Work with and take a lead role with the external ISO certification bodies.
  • Conduct/support environmental accidents/incidents and provide feedback and recommendations.
  • Work with the Ops/Project Teams to assist them to implement our Environmental Management Systems and Risk Controls.
  • Help to develop and deliver internal communications and training modules.
  • Liaison with relevant enforcing authorities in relation to environmental licensing, permitting and following accidents/incidents as required.
  • Provide the Group SHEQ Director with audit/review reports to highlight actual/potential weaknesses and areas of best practice.
  • Assist in the development and production of environmental reports and case studies.
  • Utilise carbon accounting tools to monitor and review carbon outputs.
  • Assist in the execution/delivery of energy audits.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • A proven track record in Environmental and Waste Management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Utilities/Maintenance sector.
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of the ISO 14001.
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively supporting and leading investigations following accidents/incidents.
  • Ability to present to SLT (Senior Leadership Team) within the business.
  • Ability to identify business risks and develop & deliver mitigations & contingencies.
  • Building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to create value for the business.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SHEQ systems, policies and processes and their impact on the business.
