What to expect

The Group Risk and Assurance Function is responsible for ensuring Post Office has the required frameworks and standards in place to support the business in establishing and maintaining a mature risk and control environment. The Group Risk and Assurance Function through appropriate coverage of POL and its business functions will establish objective oversight for the timely identification, assessment and reporting on the status of POLs risk and control environment to support the delivery of POLs strategic outcomes and safeguarding of Postmasters.

The Technology and Transformation Assurance Lead is a key member of the Group Risk and Assurance Function, responsible for the delivery of functional strategies, always role modelling the Post office behaviours and demonstrating a Postmaster first mindset. Acting as an expert advisor, the Technology and Transformation Assurance Lead will apply their advanced knowledge of Risk and Assurance.

The Technology and Transformation Assurance Lead will be primarily responsible for supporting the creation and timely delivery of the Group Assurance Plans, ensuring adequate coverage for key business change, technology transformation programmes etc. They will ensure related material risks and efficacy of key controls are objectively assessed and reported to the Risk & Compliance Committee and Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. They will work collaboratively with other assurance resources across Group Assurance and Risk and support the Assurance Leadership Team (Group Risk and Assurance Director, Head of Risk and Controls, Head of Group Assurance, MLRO & Head of Financial Crime Assurance, and DPO and Head of Data Governance) to deliver ad-hoc request, assurance reviews, assess root causes of incidents etc. They will drive a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, and high performance across teams. They will support driving decision-making across Risk and Assurance.

What you\’ll need to succeed

  • Degree educated, or equivalent, and holder of an ACA, CIMA, IIA, CII or qualified equivalent (not essential).
  • Significant and demonstrable experience working in a second and or third line assurance function within FTSE 100 organisations, with practical experience ideally across financial risk types and non-financial risk types, risk and control frameworks, governance and all aspects of enterprise risk including risk appetite, policies, processes, data reporting and MI.
  • Experience in performing objective assurance risk and control reviews across operational, commercial, technology and change / transformation programme activities.
  • Proven experience collaborating with peers and senior managers, to contribute to the development of, and deliver, a functional strategy to achieve business objectives.
  • Substantial experience in establishing successful, cross-functional, stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering projects to achieve key objectives.
  • Experience of the implementation of assurance reporting mechanisms, KPI/KRI etc to meet UK Corporate Governance Code requirements.
  • An enabler who can speak with knowledge and confidence in their subject matter, guiding their team to success.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills with the ability to utilise a range of techniques to deliver messages effectively, make an impact, and drive a successful outcome.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders to build support for functional plans and activity.
  • Acts as an expert advisor, applying advanced knowledge of their own specialism as well as broad knowledge of related areas.
  • Strong commercial business acumen and ability to make data-driven business decisions.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to upholding the values and principles of the POL organisation.
  • A track record of actively promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within all areas of responsibility and in particularly in a Risk and Assurance Function.
