Vishay Intertechnology, a leader in the development of power semiconductor products which improves efficiency in electronic systems across markets, is currently seeking a Principal Power Electronics Engineer. This position is located at the Vishay Innovation Lab, Warwick University Science Park, UK and will work within the eMobility team to develop Vishay’s next generation of WBG products.
Responsibilities
- Enable design wins by providing technical support to R&D teams and customers on eMobility WBG based applications.
- Design and drive the enablement of world-class device requirements for WBG power products and their applications.
- Engage with customers and R&D teams to support product and applications queries.
- Provide feedback to the product development teams about the customer needs and requirements.
- Establish industry best-in-class methodologies to evaluate and characterise WBG power semiconductors in eMobility applications.
- Collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including R&D, marketing, sales, strategic partnerships and research institutions.
- Generate training materials, demonstrations, evaluation boards, and application notes.
Knowledge and Experience You’ll Need
- A PhD or Masters-level degree in electronics engineering, physics or any other microelectronics-related field.
- At least 5 years of post-graduation experience in the field of Si-based or WBG power semiconductor technologies.
- Experience in power electronic product design both industrial and automotive including concept development, simulation, verification and validation.
- Deep understanding of converter topologies, chargers and the automotive product lifecycle.
- Knowledge of electronic devices and circuits and their application, including power devices, microcontrollers, programmable logic, switch mode power supplies, analogue and digital circuits, design for EMC, printed circuit board design and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify problems and opportunities for improvement and assess viable solutions. Develop and execute comprehensive action plans.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments concurrently, including ability to assess and manage priorities.
- Effective communications skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical expertise.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Must be able to build rapport with colleagues across business units and be able to foster collaborative relationships.
- The role will require inter-site travel; therefore, it is essential that candidates hold a valid UK Driver’s license.
You will have a comprehensive, demonstrable background in power semiconductors and semiconductor physics and/or electronics engineering. You will approach tasks in a logic-based way, along with having the ability and motivation to develop novel and creative ideas. Your communication skills will enable seamless collaboration both with our manufacturing partners and internally, and you will know how to build and maintain lasting relationships in international and cross-functional project teams.
