Senior Automation Manufacturing Engineer

Preco is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer for their Somerset, Wisconsin location. As a Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer, you will provide technical support to the Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS) sales, production, maintenance, and quality groups. This position carries out a responsive engineering effort to gain and process profitable customer orders and help Preco exceed customer’s expectations. This position works in operations striving to improve profitability, efficiency, productivity, and sales volume. It's highly focused on improving manufacturing processes with process automation design, development, and implementation. It interfaces with the corporate technology departments and other business units.

Job Responsibilities:

• Proven track record of Project Management & launch of production programs that deliver products meeting customer expectations and budget.
• Track record of Continuous Improvement project, planning, implementation, and validation utilizing automation.
• Provide a leadership role for other team members.
• Assist Sales, Quality and Production on large/critical jobs to determine customer requirements and help launch production programs.
• Works with customers in determining feasibility of new/difficult applications and developing processes for manufacturing.
• Organizes process development demonstrations and the completion of routine test studies.
• Provides day to day math and technical support to help quality and production in evaluating jobs running on the shop floor; assists in setting up complex/difficult jobs.
• Regularly analyzes services provided for customers to develop new ways to better satisfy customer needs (new/different equipment, alternative work methods, improved quality/service, partial and/or full automation, etc.).
• Improves shop floor workflow, improves existing laser processes, specifies, justifies, and acquires new equipment, reworks/improves existing equipment.
• Designs tooling/work holding for CMS jobs.
• Implements and trains on Statistical Process Control/ Process Capability procedures on large/critical jobs.
• Develop estimated costs for proposed projects.
• Writes technical quality and production procedures.
• Assists in the coordination, compilation and analysis of test and inspection reports.
• Assists in the implementation of an ISO-9001, ISO 13485 & SQF quality systems.
• Identifies, recommends, designs, develops, and implements automation solutions as a technical expert for the organization.
• Create business case to justify new manufacturing automation processes and implement.
• Designs and builds (or purchases) automation solutions for new or existing programs and implements.
• Visits customers at their facilities as needed.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Four-year engineering degree (ME) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 8 years industrial experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience identifying and implementing automation in manufacturing.
• Ability to keep up with latest automation technologies.
• Experienced with blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, SPC methods.
• Experience designing with Solid Works, AutoCAD, PC-based software for word processing, spreadsheets, project management, design, and manufacturing.
• Project management, team building, and leadership skills with multi-disciplinary teams from a matrix-type organization.
• Good understanding of laser processing methods, material science, CNC programming.
• Able to work independently, with very good verbal and written communication skills.
• 10% travel.
