About us

We’ve recently announced plans to invest around £60 billion across the next five years – a near doubling in investment compared to the prior period. This significant scale of investment in our energy networks will unlock economic growth and enable the increasingly digital, electrified, and decarbonised economies of the future. This makes us one of the biggest green investors in the sector, allowing us to revolutionise and decarbonise the energy future across electricity, gas and renewables for the benefit of everyone.

A large part of this investment will be across the UK within the Electricity Transmission business where we maintain the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales. We take electricity generated from windfarms and other power sources and transport it through our network of pylons, overhead lines, cables, and substations. It then goes on to separate lower voltage local distribution networks, which connect directly to homes and businesses. Inclusion and Diversity is not just about race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. It is about our employees who wake up every day to serve our 20 million customers. At National Grid, we aim to create an environment where everyone is welcomed for who they are and where our differences are not only accepted but celebrated. We understand the value that a diverse team can add to our organisation and that is why we model inclusive behaviour starting with senior leadership. National Grid utilises the insights of our employees that come from all different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs to better serve our customers and communities who are at the forefront of everything we do.
