Black & Veatch's Technology, Commercial and Industrial team is dedicated to meeting the fast-evolving infrastructure demands of the mission-critical sector, including the generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of secure and dependable electrical power. Our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region provides our clients with feasibility studies through to full scale EPC execution level projects. We are growing our UK based team due to demand, and we are now seeking a Project Manager - Data Centres with experience leading and executing medium and large data centre projects. You will lead design teams and serve as a technical specialist on Data Centre projects within the UK and wider EMEA region. This role will be based in our London, United Kingdom office. We work a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days per week remote. You may also travel, both domestically and internationally, to BV, client or project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Execution: Manage the team to prepare complex architectural and engineering deliverables for multiple or large scale data center projects including but not limited to schematic design, detailed design, permitting submission, and construction issue documents. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements. Lead larger execution teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for project execution.
  • Client Interface: Identify key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects. Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions. Provide support for business development or pursuit activities. Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision.
  • Technical expertise: Lead large multi-discipline teams to meet project deliverables. Drive solutions to achieve project goals. Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable codes and Black & Veatch policies.
  • Management Responsibilities: Reviews architect and engineering work or assignments. Responsible for mentoring and performance management of assigned personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Significant (typically 8+ years) related work experience in data centre design and project execution.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Sciences or equivalent academic qualification.
  • Significant experience executing Data Centre infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of UK Data Centre market, hyperscalers, developers and colocation providers.
  • Previous project management proposal and execution experience in the UK.
  • Experience being the single point-of-contact, including managing the bottom-line, for multiple services projects from cradle-to-grave.
