Veritas Education are looking for an experienced Scribe to work in a secondary school in Hackney during the upcoming exam period. This Scribe role will involve supporting a student with SEN during their GCSE exams. You will have worked as a Scribe (or similar) for exams before, and must be comfortable working with students with SEN. As a Scribe, you will transcribe for the student, both by hand and using a laptop.

This Scribe position runs from the 8th of May through to the 17th of June - working on average 3-4 times a week. The majority of the exams are in the morning (8am start) with a few in the afternoon and a couple all day. Please only apply if this schedule is doable for you and you are available throughout this period.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide scribing support for a student with SEN during the exams.
  • Accurately transcribe the student's spoken answers in accordance with their needs.
  • Ensure a calm and focused exam environment for the student.
  • Follow any specific instructions or requirements provided by the student or exam officials.
Requirements:
  • Enhanced DBS Check on the online update service (mandatory).
  • Proven experience as a scribe for individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Able to type at a fast pace.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability on the above dates.
