We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support a highways project in Cambridge, working night shifts starting in early May. This is a crucial role on a major infrastructure scheme, with an initial contract of 4 months and strong potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate a team of engineers and subcontractors during night operations.
- Oversee site activities with a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery.
- Lead and support setting out activities as required.
- Ensure drainage and surfacing works are carried out to spec and standard.
- Maintain accurate site records, QA documentation, and progress reports.
- Liaise effectively with project management, client representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Solve on-site technical issues swiftly, maintaining momentum on the programme.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in a Senior Engineer role within highways projects.
- Strong technical knowledge in drainage and surfacing.
- Proven ability to manage multiple engineers and subcontractor teams.
- Experience with setting out using GPS, Total Station, and traditional methods.
- Familiarity with DMRB and highways construction standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
Desirable Qualifications/Certs:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- CSCS (Black or White Card), SMSTS, and First Aid (desirable).
- Previous night shift experience on highways projects.
