You must be an experienced Head of HR as this position will be accountable for supporting 3 experienced HRBP and a Central HR Manager. As Head of HR you will report to the Board level HR Director and be accountable for driving strategic HR initiatives that are compliant with current and upcoming legislation whilst ensuring alignment with the strategic business plan. This role protects the ongoing PR of the business through strong ER leadership and continues to drive the development of the business ensuring it is a great place to work.
Your areas of responsibilities will include:
- HR Excellence
- Hold regular reviews with direct reports to ensure HR Excellence is delivered throughout the business.
- Lead on best practice, labour laws and UK legislation to ensure market competitiveness and compliance.
- Work with the Operations Director to agree an ongoing people plan which meets operational requirements.
- Coach, develop and mentor Senior Executives within the business for continuous improvement.
- Lead the business JCC (Joint Consultative Committee) relationship.
- Ensure there is a full suite of appropriate policies and procedures in place to ensure ongoing business compliance.
- Support team and manage any Employment Tribunal claims in partnership with Employment Lawyers.
- Lead employee wellbeing initiatives to ensure we remain competitive as a business and have employees wellbeing at the heart of what we do.
- Compensation and Benefits
- Oversee compensation structures, ensuring competitive and fair pay practices.
- Design and manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance and wellness programs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to compensation and benefits.
- Employee Relations
- Accountable for the HR Team’s delivery of sound, accurate and timely employee relations advice to the business.
- Analyse, report on and respond to key trends on activity, emerging patterns or issues and advise of any training needs.
- Respond to, case manage and represent the Company on tribunal claims. Assess risk and coordinate responses in line with tribunal orders, attend meetings if necessary, provide information and progress on tribunal log.
- Org Design
- Support all organisational design projects as and when appropriate.
- Continually review vacancies to ensure structures in place are fit for purpose.
- Ensures all business areas are requesting recruitment for roles that are true roles in line with organisational hierarchy.
- Talent and Succession
- Support the annual talent mapping process ensuring ongoing operational reviews.
- Provide clear development pipelines to support ongoing succession plans.
- Support utilisation of business career pathway tools.
- Systems and Data
- Sets the standard for all HR reporting and metrics.
- Coaches the team and wider business to utilise data to make key decisions.
- Ensures HR KPI’s are implemented and monitored reporting regularly to the Roadchef Board.
- Work with the Central HR team to ensure all data and reporting is business relevant and easily available.
- Work with the Central HR team to ensure Board pack reporting is accurate and business relevant.
- Ensure People metrics are consistently reported across the business.
- Input to the digitisation of other key processes.
- Ensure innovative ways to capture and present people data and metrics.
- Employee Engagement
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Roadchef’s Mission, Vision & Values and a champion and role model for these values on a daily basis in order to drive engagement and maintain the company’s IIP Platinum Employer and Best Companies 3 Star status.
- Support development of a people plan strategy that holds employee engagement at the heart and is aligned with our Vision and Values.
- Spans of Control
- Budget responsibility within projects/new initiatives and key areas of the HR Budget.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources (HR) and HR Management.
- Extensive experience in leading and developing experienced HR Business Partners.
- Expertise in Labour and Employment Law and HR Policies.
- Proven experience in Employee Relations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in the hospitality or service industry is advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced certification like CIPD is preferred.
