The goal of the Navy Digital Hosting (Deployed) [NDH(D)] service is to introduce a new modern, flexible and scalable Navy Hosting IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). NDH(D) will help to address obsolescence by re-platforming and uplifting the current landscape to a new, modern and consolidated service offering. The environment will provide a common set of services to the teams delivering data and digital solutions on behalf of the Royal Navy, enabling the teams to focus upon their solutions and the Royal Navy to benefit from economies of scale.

The Royal Navy has also made provision for Cloud hosting capability ashore, this service is known as Navy Digital Hosting (NDH) and shares an identical technology stack to that deployed in NDH(D). We are looking for a project manager to lead data and ship integration and assurance activity.

Tasking

  • The role of the Project Manager is to lead/manage the project on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Project Manager is responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
  • The Project Manager has a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery - Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Project Management - Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.
  • Supply Chain Management - Engage with Suppliers to ensure task delivery.
  • Business Case - Support development of a Business Case.
  • Budgeting - Track delivery within budget.
  • Resources - Schedule/manage resources to deliver the project.
  • Benefits Realisation - Ensure benefits are identified, understood, and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the Business Case.
  • Stakeholder Management - Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.
  • Risks & Issues - Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.
  • Governance - Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.
  • Assurance - Support or set appropriate project assurance.
  • Change Management - Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Project Performance & Controls - Build Project Plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Track and report delivery against milestones.

Supporting Outputs/Tasks

  • The NDH(D) Project Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day NDH(D) Programme and ensuring that MDDS delivery elements are scheduled and resourced to meet the delivery targets of the Programme.
  • Co-ordinate Business case development (including cost model and supporting approvals artefacts).
  • Co-ordinating Equipment, Infrastructure, procurement & Logistics activity.
  • Support the programme board.
  • Develop project specifications, agree project plan baseline including scope, key activities, deliverables, resource requirements, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Utilise project plans, tools and schedules to monitor all activities.
  • Ensure team members are informed, have clear goals, and work collaboratively and in partnership with clients and other stakeholders to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Drive project execution; track delivery; pro-actively seek and resolve blockers.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Co-ordinate, track and manage project assumptions and dependencies.
  • Ensure project maintains safety and security compliance in regards to capability integration on HM Ships by utilising the relevant project subject matter experts.

To be considered for this role you will have the following:

Essential

  • Active SC Clearance.
  • Must hold a recognised Project Manager qualification, eg APM, Prince 2, MSP.
  • MS Office proficient.

Desirable Skills

  • Maritime/Defence experience.
  • Experienced Project Manager in IT systems.
  • Financial controls experience.
  • Schedule management experience.

  • Rate - dependent on experience and interview.
