To help deliver against our ambitious plans, Willmott Dixon Interiors is recruiting a Principal Sustainability Lead based in our London office with hybrid agile working arrangements supported. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of sustainability, environmental and social value professionals. You will partner with both operational businesses, working closely with project teams and senior leaders, to deliver against our customer priorities, our internal Now or Never strategy, support work winning and enthuse our people.
You will be a self-starter, who loves a challenge, is able to work agilely in an empowered environment that values initiative and innovative thinking. You will be tenacious and be able to think strategically but be equally comfortable with the detail of defining and delivering tactical solutions. Strong communication and relationship management skills are essential, coupled with an ability to influence and deliver through others.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a highly motivated team of sustainability, social value and environmental professionals within your region ensuring effective delivery against company targets, policies and customer requirements.
- Increase people’s skills, knowledge and capability by delivering training advice and support.
- Provide input and expertise to the tender and work winning process.
- Build relationships with and influence customers, supply chain partners and other industry stakeholders.
- Partner with others across the Sustainability to ensure efficient and consistent delivery across the business.
- Manage and report sustainability performance KPIs, targets and data for your region and identify improvement actions.
- Collaborate with other functional teams (i.e. procurement, communications, design, commercial) to facilitate business improvement.
- Meet regularly with regional Sustainability, New Business and HSE Directors to discuss performance and developments.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
- You will need proven experience of:
- Successfully overseeing delivery of sustainability, environmental and/or social value related initiatives/projects.
- KPI and target management and reporting.
- Educating others on issues surrounding sustainability, environment and/or social value.
- Working with and influencing senior stakeholders including customers and supply chain.
- Developing and executing a customer focused approach which understands and meets their needs.
- Influencing and networking, speaking and profile raising with a range of stakeholders.
- Leading a successful team.
- Ability to implement and execute strategy to form a coherent approach bringing others with you.
- Sustainability, environmental and/or social value bid delivery.
- A good understanding and practical experience across a range of sustainability, environmental, and social value topics.
- Expertise in built environment performance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- A high degree of energy and self-motivation with a track record of identifying, developing & implementing solutions.
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Able to use Microsoft suite of office programmes including Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
- Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC/NVQ4 etc).
- Appropriate CSCS card.
- Valid driving licence.
- Professional membership of a relevant body.
