Applications are sought for a Tissue Bank Operations Manager responsible for operational oversight of the Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) research tissue banks and management of the BCI Tissue Bank Team. This is an important role at the institute, providing oversight of all the local tissue banks, including a team of tissue officers, technicians and data officers and liaising with academic leads to ensure the efficient collection, storage and distribution of tissues - primarily haemato-oncological, gynaecological, pancreatic and gastro-intestinal samples. Additional tasks include liaising with clinical teams, researchers and other key stakeholders across the Institute.

Essential requirements for this post include a BSc or equivalent in a biological science or allied health field. Significant experience in the organisation and running of a research support service/biobanking is essential as well as extensive knowledge in management/storage of biological materials and thorough working knowledge of the Human Tissue Act and related legislation.

BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care.
