Deerfoot Recruitment is working on behalf of our client - a well-established retail organisation currently undergoing an exciting, large-scale IT transformation - to source a skilled Data Engineer for a contract opportunity. This role will play a key part in the modernisation of the business's data estate, supporting the migration from legacy systems to a modern, cloud-based data platform built on Microsoft Azure technologies. The successful contractor will join a collaborative team, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of robust data pipelines and models, ensuring data quality and accessibility across the organisation.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Platform technologies (Synapse, Data Lakes, ADF)
- Expertise in data modelling, ETL/ELT pipeline development, and data integration
- Proficient in SQL and Python (ideally PySpark)
- Knowledge of tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and DevOps (CI/CD pipelines)
- Experience working with enterprise data sources and APIs (e.g., Salesforce, MuleSoft)
- Familiarity with data governance, GDPR, and best practices in secure data provisioning
