We are looking for a SHEQ Manager - Gas to lead SHEQ initiatives across our Gas division, ensuring compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement across all projects.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As the SHEQ Manager - Gas, you will act as the primary point of contact for all SHEQ-related matters across the Gas division. You will work closely with operational teams, contractors, clients, and regulators, ensuring all activities comply with legislation and best practices. This role involves leading a growing SHEQ team, conducting audits, implementing SHEQ strategies, and driving a strong safety culture across JSM Group’s Gas projects.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
- Leading and managing SHEQ initiatives within the Gas division
- Providing expert SHEQ advice to employees, contractors, and clients
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards, including ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001
- Overseeing accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and preventative actions are implemented
- Conducting regular audits and inspections to monitor SHEQ performance
- Supporting the development and implementation of SHEQ plans and strategic improvement projects
- Encouraging proactive safety reporting of near misses, hazards, and observations
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure SHEQ documentation is accurate and up to date
- Championing SHEQ culture by setting an example in leadership and behaviour
WHAT IT TAKES
- 3+ years’ experience in a SHEQ leadership role within the utilities or engineering sector. Gas distribution experience is key.
- Strong technical understanding of Gas industry SHEQ requirements (Cadent, SGN, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of NRSWA, HSG47, ISO 14001 & 45001
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging stakeholders at all levels
- Proven experience in leading SHEQ improvement projects
- Self-motivated leader, able to inspire change and drive continuous improvement
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree in a relevant discipline
- NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6/7 SHEQ qualification
- Chartered IOSH Membership
- ISO Lead Auditor (desirable)
- Lean or Six Sigma qualification (desirable)
