Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager for a main contractor. They are looking for a skilled professional to oversee the electrical design process on construction projects ranging from residential to hotels.

The Role

As an Electrical Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of electrical systems on a range of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will work closely with project teams and consultants to deliver efficient and cost-effective electrical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the electrical design process from concept to completion.
  • Liaise with clients and consultants to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, including BS7671, CIBSE, and Building Regulations.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Oversee design risk assessments and ensure health & safety compliance.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to site teams throughout the construction phase.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to optimise project efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in electrical design management within an electrical sub-contractor or MEP consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical building services, including LV distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Proficiency in design software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
