Job Description Summary: The Software Engineer-III designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. Determines software’s compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware.

Additional Role: The ChangeMan developer designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs the ChangeMan ZMF product, primarily written in Assembler utilizing z/OS and associated components such as ISPF, REXX, VSAM, DB2, and CICS. Responsibilities include maintenance and development of new product features.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Programming, conducting code reviews, and testing software to ensure quality of deliverables
  • Executing various tests – unit, system, regression, integration, performance, volume
  • Diagnosing, reproducing, and resolving customer issues with support
  • Acting as the technical subject matter expert for a product domain
  • Estimating work and communicating risks to management
  • Handling multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Breaking down features into tasks and understanding the overall feature set
  • Ensuring work is tested, documented, and meets quality standards
  • Participating in internal projects and other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Expertise in Mainframe assembler programming
  • Knowledge of IBM z/OS internals, storage, and file systems (VSAM, zFS, etc.)
  • Experience in problem diagnosis, dump reading, and debugging (IPCS is a plus)
  • Proficiency in z/OS utilities, JCL, and REXX
  • Experience with software vendors is strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DB2 experience
  • CICS experience
  • ChangeMan experience
