Conduktor is an Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform that specialises in streaming. We empower industry leaders to implement their Streaming Data Strategy with a comprehensive approach to data control, compliance, and security; unconstrained by their infrastructure providers. Our platform mitigates data security risks while enhancing communication, automation, and observability across data flows, enabling teams to collaborate effortlessly across the organisation. We have hubs in London and New York, and we are looking for people who are excited by our mission and who want to share this journey with us. For us, hybrid means being in the office together on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
About the role
Engineering is at the heart of what Conduktor does, and our Engineering Managers are here to build and empower engineering teams to deliver products that amaze our Customers. As an EM at Conduktor you will focus on creating high-performing teams of motivated individuals. You will drive and own the delivery management for your teams with a customer-focused and agile mindset. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be running teams working across our main products, which are used by thousands of developers to explore their data and solve their challenges when working with Apache Kafka. Collaboration, problem solving and excellent people skills are all required as we strive to grow our product offering and reach more Customers. We encourage open communication, engaging frequently with peers, and invite as much diversity as possible, in the hope we can all thrive.
What will you be doing?
- Managing, mentoring and coaching a team of hybrid and remote engineers - providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their career development and growth individually and as a team.
- Collaborating and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as product, design, and customer success.
- Working alongside the technical and product leads to design, plan and execute great solutions for our customer’s needs.
- Setting clear expectations and defining goals for the team.
- Tracking progress, performance and improving ways of working to ensure customer value is continuously shipped.
- Providing technical guidance and support to the engineering team, assisting with problem-solving and ensuring technical excellence throughout delivery.
- Alongside aligning on engineering activities, you’ll provide regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
What experience are we looking for?
- You’ve previously managed a team of engineers, contributing to their growth, skills, and experience.
- You have strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving results.
- You have excellent delivery management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects in an agile environment.
- You’ve worked in a fast-growing start-up environment and you recognise the need for strong change management strategies.
- You have a strong technical background in one of: JVM based server-side systems, modern web front ends, Kafka.
- You have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
