A leading Global Renewable Energy Generation business (Hydro, Biomass, Carbon Credits) is seeking to appoint its next Senior Credit Risk Manager. The purpose of this position will be the overall guidance and direction to the Commercial business units on credit and contractual risk related matters as well as the independent credit and contractual risk oversight and challenge to the business, with the goal of ensuring accountability of the Company’s credit and contractual risk.
Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:
- Provide independent credit risk oversight and reporting to risk management committees;
- Ensure credit and collateral policy is in line with the risk appetite, and is adhered to;
- Understand our Commercial businesses, the risks associated with it and provide independent credit risk advice and support;
- Work closely with the Treasury team to detail, assess and manage our Group collateral position;
- Ensure appropriate credit positions and exposures are being independently tracked, reported and reviewed, with the support of the broader team’s risk analysts as required;
- Provide independent oversight, assessment and challenge to any of our Commercial contracts;
- Ensure appropriate credit risk management within the procurement process, focusing on major projects and critical suppliers;
- Lead on the development of enhancements to the credit risk system;
- Provide credit risk analysis and assessment where required, with the responsibility to devise and manage appropriate credit risk measures, monitoring and analysis e.g. new deals/products;
- Contract negotiation with counterparties to ensure contracts align to our risk appetite;
- Engage with any changes within the Commercial business to ensure credit and contractual risks are appropriately identified, managed and mitigated;
- Ensure contracts are being appropriately monitored, reviewed and approved, as appropriate;
- Identify, lead and support on projects and assist the broader Risk team across the group from a credit risk perspective;
- Successful delivery of the trading strategy is reliant upon credit terms that are acceptable to counterparties.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Strong management and collaboration skills to engage with the Commercial businesses and wider Group;
- Ability to influence senior management, with a willingness to challenge and question;
- Expertise in effective risk governance and controls;
- Ability to negotiate with counterparties on contract related matters;
- Strong understanding of the credit risk management of complex energy assets;
- Sound judgment around credit risk issues in a trading environment;
- Ability to assess and communicate complex credit, collateral and contractual risk management issues in an effective manner;
- Ability to maintain a strong independent mind whilst maintaining effective working relationships across the organisation and in particular with members of the Commercial leadership teams;
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
