Join us at DP World, the leading provider of smart logistics solutions, as our Qlikview BI Developer. In this role, our successful candidate will gather user’s business requirements and technical specifications and work closely with the Operations team.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining operational data quality dashboards.
- Designing and supporting QlikView & QlikSense applications.
- Building data structures using various source systems.
- Creating QlikView & QlikSense dashboards with different objects.
- Generating reports using NPrinting.
- Optimizing data models and load scripts for improved performance.
- Implementing section access.
- Assisting users in utilizing QlikView & QlikSense.
- Converting applications between the two platforms.
- Creating technical specifications and test reports.
- Collaborating with various departments.
- Developing Key Performance Indicators.
- Generating ad-hoc reports.
- Coordinating project development tasks.
- Ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
Our ideal candidate will have 3 plus years of professional experience in design/development of Qlikview/QlikSense applications as well as a Computer Science degree or other relevant Information Technology or numerate degree. You will also ideally have experience using one of the following systems or more: Container terminal, freight, transport, and warehouse management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gathering business requirements and technical specifications from the users.
- Working closely with Operations team in the production and ad-hoc reports.
- Developing and maintaining operational data quality dashboards to highlight potential areas for improvement or further investigation.
- Designing, developing, testing, publishing, maintaining, and supporting QlikView & QlikSense applications.
- Building QVDs, QVWs, QVFs using source systems like Oracle Cloud, IBM Maximo, Databriks, Data Lake, SQL Server & Excel files.
- Involved in the requirement analysis and identifying sources and targets.
- Creating QlikView & QlikSense dashboards using different objects.
- Creating PixelPerfect reports, Excel reports, PowerPoint reports and Word Reports using NPrinting tool.
- Involving in performance tuning of QlikView & QlikSense apps for faster data reloads and efficient response times.
- Optimizing the existing data models and load scripts to improve performance.
- Simplifying complex expressions in the dashboards and improving front end.
- Implementing section access to make the application available to the desired users.
- Assisting users with demo sessions in using QlikView & QlikSense.
- Converting QlikView applications to QlikSense.
- Creating detailed technical specification, business requirements and unit test report documents.
- Validating the developed applications against the predefined design standards.
- Performing error handling process, debugging and troubleshooting the applications.
- Working closely with all DP World UK Terminal departments translating business requirements into operational system solutions.
- Handling applications performance tuning, including maintenance & upgrades of applications and systems.
Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in port systems integrations including freight management and logistics pillars.
- Experience as a business analyst for port/logistics systems is essential.
- Experience in Performance tuning of queries and report calculations.
- Experience in Qlikview/QlikSense Server Administration.
- Knowledge of best practice BI architectures.
- Strong knowledge in SQL development.
- Good problem solving and multi-tasking capabilities are required to react to customer requirements.
- Good understanding of the Operational flows and procedures of the Operations Department.
- Understanding of Test Driven Development and Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of Change management and source code control systems.
- Good knowledge of IT systems/server administration.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work within a team, especially as needed to meet challenging deadlines.
- Work effectively under pressure.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work with operations and systems staff.
- Ability to use initiative and act independently.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- A proven track record of successful project implementation preferably in the Transportation and/or Logistical industry.
