We are looking for an Engineering Manager / Technical Delivery Manager to join our team and help us deliver innovative technical solutions across a range of exciting projects in our Internal Product development. This is your opportunity to lead and support the successful delivery of front-end and back-end technologies, working with a talented multi-disciplinary team.
What You'll Do:
- As a Technical Delivery Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the technical delivery of projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and effectively.
- You will work closely with Tech Leads, engineers, and the wider Leadership Team to drive technical decisions, support the delivery of concurrent projects, and contribute to the growth and development of our development teams.
- You will also collaborate with Engineering Managers to monitor the health of squads and ensure the progression and career growth of developers across the business.
- With your strong technical background, you’ll help define and implement best practices, sharing knowledge across teams and ensuring consistency and innovation in the technical solutions we deliver.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the escalation point for Tech Leads and squads during delivery.
- Lead the decision-making process to ensure technical solutions are efficient and consider all relevant technical factors.
- Oversee multiple concurrent work streams and support squads in delivering effectively.
- Define and evolve techniques and approaches, balancing consistency with innovation.
- Facilitate cross-team sharing and learning to ensure ideas and techniques are rolled out effectively.
- Monitor the health of squads with support from Engineering Managers.
- Support the estimation and planning of new work, ensuring alignment with business objectives (Opex and Capex).
- Drive quality and consistency by identifying similarities across projects.
- Plan development staff resources based on project and client needs, ensuring the right team composition for quality delivery.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure developers' skills and competencies are utilized effectively.
- Support Partnerships, Business Development, and Solution Delivery with Request for Proposals (RFPs) and prospecting activities.
Possible Extended Responsibilities:
- Line management of developers, including performance reviews, career progression, and role support.
- Act as a Chapter Lead across an engineering Chapter.
- Establish technical-based Guilds/Working Groups to promote the progression of development techniques and technology.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven Experience in:
- Technical builds specializing in mobile, front-end, or back-end solutions.
- Software project delivery, scope definition, and task management.
- Managing dependencies, cross-team collaboration, and technical decision-making.
- Cloud technologies, particularly AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- Motivating and supporting developers and technical teams.
- Communicating with both clients and third parties.
External Experience:
- At least 1-2 years in a technical team lead/manager role, with experience in:
- Delivering software projects, resource planning, and progress tracking.
- Managing scope and ensuring adherence to development best practices and design patterns.
- Estimation of software features and task management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
- Technical collaboration and cross-team sharing/learning.
5+ years as a software engineer (in front-end, back-end, or full-stack development), with expertise in:
- Coding support within your relevant discipline.
- Software architecture and cloud hosting/infrastructure (AWS).
