Our client is a UK subsidiary of a global financial house working in multiple markets and asset classes. We are currently seeking a VBA developer, who will work in the technology team within Operations for EMEA, which is responsible for around 60 MS Access applications with about 600,000 lines of VBA code. The role is for maintenance and enhancement of existing systems, and development of new systems to support business requirements.
The candidate will work closely with the heads of operations departments and SMEs, operating as a senior analyst and programmer to support system development and implementation. They will be responsible for the production of various project elements including but not limited to: Analysis, Business Requirements, Design Documents, Application Programs, Test Scripts, and Test Plans. The end solutions should be consistent with the design and implementation of existing solutions and reuse existing components where relevant. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, and the candidate must have a well-organised and structured approach to managing small/medium projects and working with senior stakeholders. The required candidate will need to work UK hours.
Responsibilities
- Undertake the design, coding, and testing of solutions using MS Access and SQL Server technologies.
- Re-use and leverage functional components from existing MS Access systems if applicable.
- Analyse user requirements and design technical solutions to business problems.
- Document requirements, system designs/specifications, and user guides as per department standards.
- Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes.
- Prepare test plans including test cases and coordinate UAT with users.
- Work iteratively with stakeholders to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration, and in defining acceptance tests.
- Accept responsibility for creation of test cases using own in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability).
- Specify requirements for environment, data, resources, and tools.
- Interpret, execute, and document complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards.
- Record and analyse actions and results, and maintain a defect register.
SKILLS
- Must have experience with end-to-end SDLC from designing to coding, testing, implementation, and support.
- Nice to have banking experience.
