THE ROLE

  • We are looking for an experienced Older Peoples' Support Officer to work within Crawley Borough Council’s Sheltered Housing service, ensuring the well-being of elderly tenants and maintaining safe, supportive living environments.
  • Carry out regular welfare checks through visits and calls to tenants.
  • Respond to emergency alarms and incidents, providing immediate support.
  • Liaise with external agencies to organise care packages and support networks.
  • Manage and supervise communal areas within the schemes.
  • Assist with tenancy management, including pre-tenancy assessments and viewings.
  • Maintain accurate and secure records of tenant support and safeguarding concerns.
  • Participate in an emergency out-of-hours callout rota.

THE CANDIDATE

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, particularly within sheltered housing or working with older or vulnerable adults.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and WSCC protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
  • Knowledge of housing and welfare benefits and local referral pathways.
  • Confident IT skills and experience in maintaining support records.

THE CONTRACT

  • 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00am–4:30pm Mon–Thurs, 8:00am–4:00pm Fri).
  • 2-month contract covering a vacant post during permanent recruitment.
  • The pay for the role is £17.47 per hour LTD. The PAYE equivalent is £14.89 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.
  • Enhanced DBS and full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle required.
