We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our City Highways team as a Skilled Streetmason. This role is vital in the construction, maintenance, and repair of highway infrastructure including roads, footpaths, and drainage features.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Undertake construction and maintenance activities on highway and drainage features to required specifications.
- Lay paving materials such as slabs, kerbs, and blocks with precision.
- Perform general manual tasks and operate powered tools and machinery.
- Drive and maintain vehicles and tractors with attachments.
- Liaise with the public to explain work and traffic arrangements, and handle access issues.
- Train and develop less-skilled operatives, including trainees and apprentices.
- Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota throughout the year.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Significant experience in construction, specifically in streetmasonry.
- Extensive knowledge of construction/highway works construction specifications and materials.
- Experience in 'Banksman' duties is essential for both roles.
- Must be prepared to work on the out-of-hours standby rota.
- NRSWA/Streetworks Ticket, CSCS Health & Safety Certificate/Card within 6 months of commencement.
- Desired: Relevant plant operator certifications, full valid UK driving licence, accredited First Aider.
