Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer

The Vacancy

Binnies UK , part of the RSK Group , is seeking Senior and Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to work on both clean water and wastewater schemes. The role involves delivering engineering solutions from concept design to detailed design for construction .

Key responsibilities

• Producing clear engineering deliverables such as general arrangement drawings, equipment sizing calculations, datasheets, schedules, and reports.
• Ensuring compliance with in-house procedural & quality systems.
• Developing key multidiscipline deliverables like P&IDs.
• Managing design interfaces and integrating mechanical design into overall projects.
• Collaborating with project teams, other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
• Undertaking technical bid assessments and providing technical support on-site.
• Providing technical guidance and supervising project teams.
• Managing budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.

Person Specification
Candidates should have a background in Mechanical Engineering within the water industry or related fields, with qualifications, skills, and experience including:

• Design experience in water and wastewater systems, including equipment specification and hydraulic design.
• Knowledge of standards, CDM, procurement, and document control.
• A degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication skills and high computer literacy.

Desirable Requirements

• Professional qualifications (IEng / CEng MIMechE).
• Leadership qualities, support for continuous improvement, and mentoring skills.
• Drive for career progression and staying updated with industry developments.
