Are you experienced in managing temporary accommodation and passionate about supporting those in housing need? We are looking for a dedicated Temporary Accommodation Allocations Officer to join a busy Local Authority team in Ashford and help ensure safe, suitable placements for residents.

THE ROLE

  • As a Temporary Accommodation Allocations Officer, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day placement of clients into temporary accommodation, ensuring suitability, safety, and efficiency at every step.
  • Match clients to available temporary accommodation through thorough suitability checks.
  • Carry out sign-ups and set up rent accounts to support income collection.
  • Ensure accommodation meets health and safety standards through site visits and documentation reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records on landlords, units, and placements.
  • Respond to complaints and tenancy issues, escalating when required.
  • Coordinate movements and voids to reduce vacant property time.
  • Liaise with internal teams to facilitate smooth transitions to permanent housing.

THE CANDIDATE

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a similar role within a housing or local authority setting, particularly with temporary accommodation.
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation and statutory duties.
  • Experience in client placement and tenancy sign-up processes.
  • Confident managing rent accounts and ensuring income collection.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and resolve tenant or landlord issues effectively.

THE CONTRACT

  • Temporary – 3 months.
  • Full time – 37 hours weekly.
  • The pay range for the role is £16.00 to £17.00 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is £13.64 to £14.49 per hour, inclusive of holiday.
