Project Finance Manager Sweden

I\’m working with a leading European Renewable Developer committed to the development and operation of renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and energy storage. As they expand their portfolio and scale their operations, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Finance Manager to join their newly expanding team in Sweden.

Role Overview:

The Project Finance Manager will play a critical role in managing the financial structuring and execution of renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in project finance, particularly in the energy sector, and will work closely with internal teams, financial institutions, and external stakeholders to secure funding, oversee financial modelling, and ensure successful project development and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Finance Structuring & Modelling:

1. Lead the financial structuring of renewable energy projects, including the development of financial models, cash flow analysis, and debt/equity structuring. Ensure optimal capital structures for financing across different stages of the project lifecycle.

Stakeholder Management:

1. Engage with financial institutions, banks, private equity, and other funding partners to secure debt and equity financing for projects. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure smooth project financing and execution.

Due Diligence & Risk Assessment:

1. Conduct due diligence, financial assessments, and risk analysis on potential projects. Collaborate with the legal and technical teams to mitigate project risks and enhance financial feasibility.

Transaction Management:

1. Manage the negotiation and execution of financial agreements including financing contracts, equity funding, and project finance documents. Work closely with external legal advisors, financial advisors, and investors to ensure the completion of the financing process.

Project Budgeting & Forecasting:

1. Monitor project budgets, financial performance, and key financial indicators. Ensure accurate forecasting and reporting to senior management and stakeholders.

Regulatory & Compliance:

1. Stay updated with relevant regulations and industry standards. Ensure compliance with Swedish and European regulatory requirements for project finance and renewable energy investments.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship:

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, legal, and operations, to ensure financial strategies are aligned with the project goals. Provide mentorship to junior members of the project finance team.

Skills & Expertise:

1. Strong understanding of project finance models and financial structuring, including debt and equity financing, tax equity, and project finance documents.
2. Proven experience in managing relationships with banks, investors, and financial partners.
3. Experience with financial due diligence, risk management, and transaction negotiation.
4. High proficiency in financial modelling and analysis using Excel and other financial tools.
5. Knowledge of Swedish and European energy markets, regulations, and renewable energy policies.
