The Business Studies programme at Bromley Schools' Collegiate is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to teach secondary students about the world of business. The course focuses on teaching core business principles, such as marketing, finance, and economics, while also developing your ability to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students. Throughout the programme, you’ll learn how to make business concepts engaging and accessible. You’ll focus on real-world applications, helping students understand how businesses operate and encouraging them to apply their learning in real-life scenarios. The course includes two placements in contrasting schools, where you will gradually take on more responsibility, from assisting with lessons to delivering your own classes.

Key Focus Areas: The programme covers fundamental business concepts such as management, marketing, financial planning, and business strategy. You will also focus on teaching economic theory, helping students understand global markets, competition, and business operations. In addition, you will explore how to incorporate case studies, group projects, and practical activities into lessons to make business studies more engaging. You’ll be trained in how to support students’ development of critical thinking, enabling them to analyse business practices, understand market trends, and apply their learning to real-world challenges.

Mentoring and Support: During your placements, you will receive guidance from experienced Business Studies teachers who will help you refine your teaching strategies and classroom management skills. Regular feedback and mentoring will ensure you feel confident in your teaching abilities as you gain hands-on experience.

Bursaries & Scholarships: Eligible applicants can receive a £26,000 bursary for Business Studies. Additionally, DfE scholarships offer £31,000 for high-calibre candidates, including opportunities for professional development, networking, and mentoring.

Entry Requirements: To apply, you will need a degree (minimum 2:2) in Business Studies, Economics, or a closely related subject. You will also need GCSEs in English and Maths (C/4 or above). Although prior classroom experience is not required, any relevant experience with young people is helpful.

Fees: QTS only: £8,000 QTS with PGCE: £9,200 (These fees are fixed for September 2025)
