Engineering Design Lead required to manage multi-disciplinary teams and drive technical execution from R&D through to commercial deployment in the clean energy sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Balance technical engineering and team management.
  • Lead a team of 15 with 6-7 direct reports.
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers across all disciplines including commissioning, process, electrical and mechanical engineers.
  • Oversee technical design, process engineering, and system integration, ensuring all projects meet performance, cost, and scalability targets.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, product, and operations teams to translate innovation into deployable solutions.
  • Support pilot plant and full-scale deployment efforts, ensuring smooth handover from design to implementation.
  • Manage engineering budgets and resources, balancing short-term project delivery with long-term growth needs.
  • Manage technical risks and chemical engineering safety.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience in engineering management - Experience leading teams of 8-10 multidisciplinary engineers.
  • Process or Chemical Engineering Background.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, working with internal teams, suppliers, and external technical partners.

Ideally you will also have:

  • Experience in a high-growth start-up environment.
  • Background in large-scale hardware or process engineering projects.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary, international engineering teams.
  • Experience in cleantech/green energy sector.
