At loveholidays, we’re on a mission to open the world to everyone, giving our customers unlimited choice, unmatched ease and unmissable value for their next getaway. Our team is the driving force behind our role as our customers’ personal holiday expert - the smart way to get away.
About the team: Cloud Infrastructure is a critical team for company success as it levels up the rest of tech through scalable Platform Engineering practices. We care deeply about the performance, reliability, and scalability of our systems, including the operational cost. Our engineering teams own the lifecycle of services from the first commit to a high-load operation in production. Your responsibility will be to help engineering teams succeed at operations, not to run their services for them. Our runtime architecture is Service Based and hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Our engineering teams provision and manage their services' infrastructure with Infrastructure As Code using Terraform, Atlantis and Kubernetes. We’ve deployed over 145,000 times using GitOps (ArgoCD) and Helm, all validated by Conftest. We place a strong focus on observability, continually evolving our monitoring and alerting stack, currently centred around the Mimir (Prometheus), Grafana, Loki, Tempo ecosystem. Our service mesh (Linkerd) provides uniform observability of all production services at 10s intervals. Performance and scalability are integral to our software and infrastructure development process, achieved by combining Computer Science fundamentals and cutting-edge cloud technologies. Our teams are encouraged to use the right tool for the right job. We program in Java, Go, Rust, Python, JavaScript and others.
Your day-to-day: Applying our engineering principles through a Platform Engineering lens. Contributing to a high-performing Cloud Infrastructure team. Enabling our engineers to further self-service their needs with the right tools, processes, and training. Evolving GCP, GKE, and observability with scalability, reliability and performance in mind. Securing our infrastructure through DevSecOps practices. Promoting and maturing FinOps practices. Ensuring our systems and its components can withstand x10 load by improving our performance testing.
Your skillset: You are a motivated engineer who enjoys collaborating across teams to achieve shared goals, sharing knowledge with others. You go below the surface and understand the intricacies of technologies you use, like Kubernetes. You have built and operated highly available, high load production Kubernetes clusters with supporting Cloud Native tooling. You have proven experience in building scalable and high-performance systems, employing cutting edge technologies and processes. Applying a product mindset, you solve for end users first, with technology being a means to an end. You have a constant interest in learning more about the latest trends in the platform engineering space, and want to grow further. We invest in engineer’s growth and will give you the platform to do it. You own systems end to end, from specification to coding, to deploying, running and monitoring in production.
Perks of joining us: Company pension contributions at 5%. Individualised training budget for you to learn on the job and level yourself up. Discounted holidays for you, your family and friends. 25 days of holidays per annum (plus 8 public holidays) increases by 1 day for every second year of service, up to a maximum 30 days per annum. Ability to buy and sell annual leave. Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan and eye care vouchers.
At loveholidays, we focus on developing an inclusive culture and environment that encourages personal growth and collective success. Each individual offers unique perspectives and ideas that increase the diversity and effectiveness of our teams. And we value the insight and potential you could bring on our continued journey.
