An important new role in the Travelex Finance team to support our regulated card programmes. Responsible for oversight and management of financial obligations in line with regulatory and card scheme requirements, with day-to-day activities for the programme managed by our programme manager or colleagues in our offshore team. The successful candidate will be a hands-on Finance manager with experience working at a prepaid or Fintech card business. Managing responsibilities associated with card scheme settlement, reconciliation oversight and financial reporting. As a Finance subject matter expert in card issuing, you will be called upon to support on projects and issues to provide guidance to colleagues, ensuring card products are compliant and can be supported from a financial operations perspective.
Technical Activities
- Monitoring and controlling working capital.
- Overseeing and managing the card loads value with issuing bank fund holdings, including aggregate values, clearance delays, prefunding requirements, fees earned, incurred and held.
- Ensuring sufficient tracking and reconciling customer funds by currency and any surplus/deficit.
- Monitoring & reconciling transaction activity across issuing and Mastercard network, including identification of chargebacks, fees and costs as applicable.
- Ensure cash management is optimised between the Banks and other payment providers.
- Ensure any financial exposures from foreign exchange are managed and controlled effectively.
- Lead in the preparation of the budget and reforecasts for the Card self-Issuing entity.
- Working closely with the offshore general ledger team to review the monthly actual P&L and BS against budget/forecast/prior year.
- Ensure relevant KPI’s/SLAs are in place and are adequately monitored and reported.
- Regular review of the relevant reconciliations.
- Preparing the monthly management reporting packs for the Business and Product team reviews including insight commentary.
- Identifies improvements to Travelex reporting standards, processes and systems.
- Manage all internal and external finance queries relating to the Card issuing and programme management.
- Be the Finance Lead on all card issuing projects or initiatives.
- Provide support to the offshore finance team.
- Timely completion of statutory accounts and year end audits.
Relationship management
- Manage relationships across multiple functions within Travelex.
- Business partner with the Cards business team.
- Be the Finance SME for Cards issuing, providing finance, commercial and regulatory knowledge and insight.
- Support colleagues in navigating challenges related to financial obligations in relation to card issuing.
Management Information
- Ensure the provision of accurate, timely and relevant MI analysis which can be used by the business to aid decision making.
- Work with the business to determine their MI needs and ensure they are met.
- Develop reporting systems, processes and information in line with overall strategy.
Communication
- Actively communicate and seek feedback from colleagues and customers.
Essential Experience
- Hold a relevant accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
- Demonstrable experience in the card payment industry, ideally in prepaid/fintech or e-money.
- Comfortable with regulatory and card scheme financial obligations and activities.
- Knowledge of sweeping and pooling of funds for payment processing and settlement.
- Familiar with Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty.
- Modelling and ad hoc analysis of card programmes.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
Desirable Experience
- Multi-currency products.
- Regulatory audits and interviews.
- Familiar with Open Banking and Straight Through Payment Processing.
