Newrest has an exciting opportunity to join our Transport Department as a Class 2 HGV Driver who will be dedicated to customer satisfaction, road safety and delivering a second to none service to some of the world’s most prestigious airlines. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Driver's role is pivotal to the success of our business as you will be responsible for loading and driving our specialist vehicles from the airport to our unit in Colnbrook. You will be responsible for transporting items safely and timely, supporting our activities at Heathrow.

You must have:

  • Full 5 years referencing details for the UK
  • If for any part of the previous 5 years you have worked abroad, references will only be accepted for business accounts
  • If you lived abroad and have a GAP period of less than 6 months you will have to provide bank statements from the person who supported you financially
  • If you lived abroad and have a Gap of more than 6 months this is not acceptable
  • In date Driving Licence and CPC

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Check your vehicle prior to use at the start of your shift as Standard Security and Safety Protocol
  • Report any vehicle defects and/or damage to team leader
  • Ensure vehicle is security checked and sealed by an authorized staff member before departing to the airport with specified documentation
  • To comply with Food Safety and Hygiene protocols, ensure vehicle refrigeration is switched on to maintain temperature levels as per the guidelines
  • Load and unload catering on and off the truck and aircraft in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with airport safety rules, airline requirements and Company Safety procedures
  • Load aircraft as per the galley plans and adhering to company policy
  • Drive to the aircraft adhering to DVLA, local and airport rules or law
  • Drive on to aircraft as per your training, ensuring you do not deviate from it at any point
  • Ensuring security documents are handed over to crew and the Delivery Note is signed
  • Return catering to the unit and ensure it is offloaded into the relevant department
  • Ensure Tacho is used correctly for every trip and in compliance with Road Traffic Regulations
  • Operating high loader vehicle following training and health and safety procedures
  • Delivering and collecting from various destinations in the UK when requested
  • Report any incidents and accidents to your line manager
  • Ensure correct uniform and relevant PPE is worn at all times whilst on shift
  • Ensure vehicles are kept clean and tidy
  • Refuelling vehicles as and when required
  • Work in all other areas of the business listed but not limited to administration (for large units in your department, for smaller units (under 50 employees) any area of administration, bond Store, Equipment Pack, Production, Blinds. Dependent on operational Requirements
  • Adhere to clean as you go standard
  • Adhere to Unit safety measures in place
  • Adhere to all unit, inflight, safety and security compliance
  • Interact with colleagues, customers and clients in a professional manner at all times
  • Comply with all unit Corporate and social responsibility Initiatives
  • Any other duties as requested by your manager

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in catering (desirable)
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and customer service skills
  • Good literacy skills, verbal written and spoken
  • Operational awareness, understanding of HACCP, COSHH, DDA, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and DFT requirements (Role specific)
  • Fork lift driving duties (if applicable)
  • In date CPC & Driving License
