The Role: We are looking for Principal Software Engineers to join us at an exciting time as we continue to invest and grow our Engineering function. You will join a new team within Engineering, as a key influencer in shaping our company's technical strategy, participating in cross-functional collaborations, and leading critical initiatives to ensure the continuous advancement and success of our software development endeavours. This role is UK based, primarily remote working with some travel required to our London Office. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

What you will do:

  • Lead technical excellence from design to operations and launch of core product features following best practices
  • Drive technical direction and influence overall strategy advising decisions on both Technology and Product investments
  • Estimation, solution design, detailed technical design, application technical deliverables including code, associated tests and documentation
  • Pioneer and promote methodologies like AI driven development, clean code and clean architecture
  • Contribution to functional excellence in terms of definition and maintenance of standards, methods and tools, bringing in best practices from market standard implementations
  • Lead complex solution development and application transformation initiatives
  • Drive implementation efficiency and effectiveness while building major product features and future projects to minimise cost, increase speed of implementation and maximise value delivery
  • Work with the architecture teams on the deconstruction of the platform into business components
  • Work with DevOps team to drive DevOps practices to automate the Product development life cycle
  • Promote effective innovation across all of engineering including proof of concepts and code foundations
  • Deep technical skills and capabilities to become a key part of projects defining the future product technical strategy, keen to engage, network and innovate in collaboration with companywide teams
  • Oversee periodic inspection processes on technologies/standards and recommend improvements
  • Work closely with architects to prepare technical/design specifications required for projects

Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Extensive relevant software development experience broadly ranging from front-end, back-end, cloud automation and orchestration with depth as an accomplished engineer
  • Significant track record of strategic and innovative thinking, as well as execution and implementation
  • Experience in implementing solutions using modern software architectures (e.g. OOP, SOLID, Secure coding principles)
  • Specialist in clean code and implementation of design patterns for common problems
  • Depth of knowledge in Information Security - design, quality review and quality assure solutions and services with security controls embedded, specifically engineered as mitigation against security threats as a core part of the solutions and services
  • Ability to analyse current processes, identify, and implement opportunities to optimise processes, and lead and develop a team of specialists to deliver improvements
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor senior engineers
  • Authoritative cloud computing skills (network, security, serverless, Kubernetes etc.) and automation
  • Experience in leading high performing teams from a technical perspective
  • Ability to effectively organise, prioritise and delegate work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and handle competing deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Extensive experience in C# .NET MVC LINQ and Entity Framework SQL Server Web APIs Source control management Unit tests

Experience with:

  • Web-based languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Azure DevOps
  • Issue tracking tools

Desirable skills:

  • Kubernetes/AKS
  • Bootstrap CSS framework
  • Familiarity with Azure
  • Experience working for a tech business is a major asset
  • Knowledge of large-scale multi-tenant SaaS platforms
